Charlie Weis Sr. thinks Jaxson Dart will be first-round pick in 2025 NFL Draft

Ole Miss football has never had a non-Manning quarterback be drafted in the first round. Could Jaxson Dart be the first?

Dart, one of the most productive Rebels quarterbacks ever, ranked third nationally with 4,279 passing yards this season, along with 29 touchdowns to six interceptions. The fourth-year starter in his third season with Ole Miss also ran for 495 yards with three scores.

Charlie Weis, the father of Ole Miss offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr., said he thinks Dart will be considered a first-round pick by Monday, after the Senior Bowl concludes.

“Let me say this before Senior Bowl week starts,” said Weis, who was once the head coach at Notre Dame and Kansas. “I have watched every snap of Jaxson Dart for the last 3 years plus have seen his leadership and approach off the field. By next Monday, he will be considered a first-round pick. It’s easy to wait to make that call. Not necessary!”

Archie Manning and Eli Manning, Archie’s son, are the only two Ole Miss quarterbacks to ever be selected in the first round of the NFL draft. Archie was drafted No. 2 overall in 1971 and Eli was taken No. 1 overall in 2004.

Dart, who will participate in the upcoming Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama, is already an interesting player to most NFL teams, at least according to Senior Bowl director Jim Nagy.

“Jaxson Dart, my phone probably pinged more when we announced him than any other quarterback,” Nagy told reporters on Monday. Just because guys want to see him in a pro-style offense and throwing it in tighter windows.”

Dart is joined by Dillon Gabriel, Tyler Shough, Taylor Elgersma, Seth Henigan, Riley Leonard and Jalen Milroe at the Senior Bowl, and will look to improve his draft stock with a strong performance in the multiple…
