CHRISTOVAL — After nine years as Christoval’s head football coach, Casey Otho announced Friday that he would move on from Athletic Director to Christoval’s Intermediate School principal for the 2025-26 school year.
Otho began his coaching career at San Angelo Central and had stops at Plainview and Mansfield Timberview before coming to Christoval as an assistant football coach in 2012. He was promoted to head football coach in 2016 and to Athletic Director in 2021.
“This is something I have been preparing myself for personally and professionally,” Otho said in a post on Christoval ISD’s Facebook page. “You never know when the Lord is going to lead you in another direction.”
During Otho’s time as head coach, he compiled a 62-40 record with eight playoff appearances, seven playoff wins and three district titles. In 2020, he led the Cougars to their best season with a 12-2 record and a trip to the state quarterfinals, ranking as high as No. 7 in Texas.
Otho was also Christoval High School’s first baseball coach in program history. He led them to four playoff appearances, two playoff wins and a district championship.
“I am very proud of the things that I’ve been able to accomplish here at Christoval,” Otho said.”I could not have asked for a better community and supporting staff. To all the people whose lives I have impacted as a coach, I am truly blessed, and am looking forward to doing the same thing as a principal.”
Otho will continue to serve as athletic director and as the boys track and field coach this spring.
Christoval ISD stated the Athletic Director position will be posted immediately and they plan to fill it this spring.
