Here’s when Notre Dame football will face ACC opponents in 2025

SOUTH BEND—Notre Dame football will meet Stanford for the Legends Trophy in 2025 after all.

The Irish will close out their regular season on Nov. 29 in the Bay Area against the Cardinal. The schools first faced each other in the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1, 1925, and the near-annual series started in 1988.

Notre Dame, coming off a 14-2 season and a No. 2 final national ranking, has won five of the past six meetings by an average margin of 29.6 points. Stanford, which went 3-9 last fall, upset the Irish 16-14 at Notre Dame Stadium in 2022.

The official announcement was made Monday night on the ACC Network as part of the conference’s schedule reveal.

Notre Dame fans also learned the dates of four other games against ACC competition: home games against N.C. State (Oct. 11) and Syracuse (Nov. 22, Senior Day) and road trips to face Boston College (Nov. 1) and Pittsburgh (Nov. 15).

Notre Dame’s two bye weeks fall on Sept. 6 (between Miami and Texas A&M) and Oct. 25 (between USC and a trip to Boston College). That first slot keeps the Irish from having to play just six days after the season opener on a Sunday night in South Florida.

Two of Notre Dame’s ACC foes have a bye the week before facing the Irish: Pittsburgh and Syracuse. N.C. State faces FCS-level Campbell as a prelude to its trip to South Bend, while Boston College plays at Louisville, and Stanford hosts archrival California the week before facing Notre Dame.

Overall, Notre Dame’s 2025 schedule features four teams that won at least 10 games last season (Miami, Boise State, Navy, and Syracuse). The combined record for the 12 opponents was 88-67 (.568).
