Travis Hunter became the second player for Colorado football to win the Heisman Trophy in December.
The Heisman has been handed out annually since 1935 to the best player in college football. With Hunter winning the award over Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty, he helped the Buffaloes become the 20th program with multiple Heisman winners.

Hunter was the first Colorado player since running back Rashaan Salaam in 1994 to win the honors after posting 92 receptions for 1,152 yards and 14 touchdowns, plus two rushes for five yards and a touchdown on offense and 31 tackles, 11 pass deflections, four interceptions and one forced fumble on defense.

USC football leads the pack with eight Heisman Trophy recipients. Quarterback Caleb Williams was the most recent Trojan to hoist the award, winning it in 2022. Running backs Mike Garrett (1965), O.J. Simpson (1968), Charles White (1970), Marcus Allen (1981) and Reggie Bush (2005) have also taken home the honors.
Quarterbacks Carson Palmer (2002) and Matte Leinart (2004) join Williams as the other two winners. Three teams are tied for second with seven Heisman winners: Oklahoma, Ohio State and Notre Dame. Quarterback Kyler Murray won the honors for the Sooners in 2018, while quarterback Troy Smith was the last winner for the Buckeyes in 2006 and wide receiver Tim Brown won for the Fighting Irish in 1987.
Alabama is fifth with four Heisman winners, with all of them coming since 2009. Seven programs are tied with three winners each, while eigth more programs are tied with at least two Heisman Trophy…
