National Signing Day: Westside pair leads way among Upstate’s top unsigned football players

Westside football players Chamarryus Bomar and Armoni Weaver, who both decommitted from Appalachian State, are expected to join some different Mountaineers.

West Virginia.

Bomar and Weaver, standout wide receivers and defensive backs for Class AAAA state runner-up Westside, pulled back their commitments to Appalachian State after coach Shawn Clark was fired two days before the Dec. 4 start of the early signing period. Appalachian State’s new coach, Dowell Loggains, kept those offers in place, but Bomar and Weaver picked up new ones from West Virginia.

Both committed to West Virginia this week and are expected to make their destinations official on Feb. 5, National Signing Day, the start of a signing window that extends through March.

Bomar last season had 43 receptions for 1,293 yards and 19 touchdowns. He also had TDs on a kickoff return, a punt return and on two of his five interceptions. Bomar was a Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas all-star.

Weaver missed four games but still had 26 catches for 541 yards and seven touchdowns. He also scored on a kickoff return and twice on interceptions. Weaver was a North-South all-star.

Here are the Upstate’s top Class of 2025 high school football players who were not picked up by colleges during the early signing period.
