Oregon football coach Dan Lanning wins 2025 Stallings Award after historic season

The 2025 Stallings Award, which recognizes outstanding leadership, character and achievement in college football, announced Oregon football coach Dan Lanning as its winner Wednesday morning.

Lanning is the first Oregon coach to win the award, which is in its 14th year and is named after former coach Gene Stallings. Proceeds from the award ceremony, which will include a private concert, will go to The Ashford Rise School of Dallas as a tribute to Stallings’ late son, Johnny, who was born with Down syndrome. The award has raised more than $3 million since its inception.

In his three seasons at Oregon, Lanning has led the Ducks to a 35-6 record and wins in the Holiday and Fiesta bowls. This past season he guided the Ducks to a perfect 13-0 record before a loss in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals at The Rose Bowl against Ohio State.

Lanning will receive the award on May 7 in Dallas.
