Ohio State offensive line coach Justin Frye is interviewing for the same position with the Chicago Bears according to the Chicago Tribune.
The paper reports the team met Wednesday with Frye as new coach Ben Johnson assembles his coaching staff. If Frye leaves, he’d be the second assistant to depart since Ohio State won the national championship Jan. 20. Penn State hired away defensive coordinator Jim Knowles on Monday.

Frye did not immediately reply to a request for comment by The Dispatch.
He has been at Ohio State for three seasons. Perhaps no position coach improved his stock with the Buckeyes’ College Football Playoff run more than Frye. For much of his time in Columbus, Frye was criticized for a failure to sign elite recruits.

But Frye’s unit overcame the season-ending injuries to two starters – left tackle Josh Simmons and Rimington Trophy-winning center Seth McLaughlin – and became more of a strength than a liability during the title run. Nine players started on OSU’s line this season.
Frye’s contract with Ohio State expires on Friday. His base salary was $1 million in 2024.

The day after the Buckeyes won the national title with their 34-23 victory over Notre Dame, coach Ryan Day said he anticipated many of his coaches being courted.
