Why Notre Dame football won’t have any players in the East-West Shrine Bowl

SOUTH BEND — Turnaround time was almost nonexistent, but Notre Dame football still sent two NFL hopefuls straight from the CFP Championship game to preparations for the 100th annual East-West Shrine Bowl in Arlington, Texas.

Tight end Mitchell Evans and defensive back Jordan Clark reported over the weekend for four days of practices, interviews and measurements in front of NFL scouts, coaches and personnel types.

However, neither Evans nor Clark will suit up for the Shine Bowl game on Thursday night. According to Eric Galko, director of football operations for the Shrine Bowl, both players had departed as of Tuesday afternoon with the approval of game organizers.

Post-CFP fatigue was undoubtedly a contributing factor.
