It’s a special year when one pair of brothers makes the list of the Jacksonville area’s best in college football.
In 2024? Try two super duos.
For Mandarin’s Kris Mitchell and Nic Mitchell, and for White’s Jaison Patterson and Davaughn Patterson, high school success is carrying on into the college ranks as the Times-Union rolls out its annual First Coast All-FBS teams to highlight the area’s top performers in college football.
The Mitchell brothers, both part of Mandarin’s Florida High School Athletic Association Class 8A champion squad in 2018, saw regular action with Notre Dame (for Kris) and with Mississippi State (for Nic). Meanwhile, running back Jaison Patterson at Bowling Green and safety Davaughn Patterson at Wake Forest also made an impact on the NCAA gridiron.
These family football stories are far from finished. Jon Mitchell, younger brother of Kris and Nic, completed his freshman year at corner this fall for national semifinalist Penn State. And Super 11 safety Joshua Patterson is following his older brothers into the college ranks, signing in December with Iowa State.
