After an injury-filled three years at Texas Tech, Tyler Shough was out to prove that he could stay healthy for Louisville football.
The quarterback accomplished the feat and threw for 3,195 yards with 23 touchdowns and six interceptions. He completed 62.7% of his passes and ranked 29th nationally in passing efficiency (148.1) in his final college season. Shough has another chance to impress NFL scouts during the Reese’s Senior Bowl at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Mobile, Alabama. The game will be broadcast on the NFL Network. U of L cornerback Quincy Riley also is scheduled to play.
Although Shough hasn’t appeared in any mock drafts, many of which only consist of the first round, he’s considered a later-round pick in a draft that also includes quarterbacks Cam Ward (Miami), Shedeur Sanders (Colorado) and Jalen Milroe (Alabama).
Louisville QB Tyler Shough has been the best of the National QBs this year. Can really rip it down the field. Great build and great command of the ball today.

Shough and Riley had their moments as standouts in the practices leading up to the Senior Bowl. Riley, who said he met with the Houston Texans this week, had the option of going pro a year ago but came back to Louisville to improve. He ended the 2024 season with a team-high 13 pass breakups (11 in 2023) and two interceptions, one fewer than a year ago, while allowing the fewest touchdowns (3) on the team. Similarly to Shough, Riley is considered a sleeper pick, projected to be a mid-round selection.
Pretty impressed by the cornerback crop on the National squad. I mentioned Dorian Strong, Darien Porter, and Azareye’h Thomas as names.
But Louisville DB Quincy Riley showed out, too. Fluid mover. Looks like he can play inside or outside. Multiple GREAT man coverage reps today.
