OU football OC Ben Arbuckle’s three-year contract approved by Board of Regents

OU’s Board of Regents approved new offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle’s contract during its Thursday meeting.

Arbuckle was hired on Dec. 2 to replace Seth Littrell, who was fired midseason. He spent the past two seasons as Washington State’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach and is considered one of the top young offensive minds in the country.

Arbuckle, 29, was raised in Canadian, Texas, and played quarterback at West Texas A&M from 2016-17. Before landing the Washington State play-calling job, he served as Western Kentucky’s co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2022 and the Hilltoppers’ offensive quality control coach in 2021.

OU football offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle contract details

Arbuckle’s contract is a three-year deal worth a total of $4.5 million with a $1.5 million annual salary.

The initial term runs through Jan. 31, 2028. The only performance bonus in the contract is $90,000 for winning the national championship.

Arbuckle’s new contract ranks fourth among SEC offensive coordinators.

OU football stadium upgrades

The Board’s approval of construction firms for the Gaylord Family — Oklahoma Memorial Stadium Master Plan Updates project is just the next step of a years-long process.

“We’re quite a few months from taking another step,” athletic director Joe Castiglione said on Thursday.

“The work is anticipated to address improvements and enhancements to the west lower seating bowl, the west upper deck, the press box, and all encapsulated or adjacent spaces or operational elements impacted,” the item read.
