Although his West team didn’t fare too well in a 25-0 shutout loss, Colorado football safety Shilo Sanders had an encouraging performance in Thursday’s East-West Shrine Bowl.
After the game, NFL.com draft analyst Chad Reuter gave Sanders an honorable mention nod in an article breaking down his top Shrine Bowl standouts. The graduate student defensive back showed off his man coverage abilities with a pass breakup and later made an athletic tackle for a third-down stop in the fourth quarter.
Sanders was joined at the Shrine Bowl by his father, Colorado head coach Deion Sanders, and brother, quarterback Shedeur Sanders, who both watched from the sidelines. Four other Buffs suited up for the game: wide receivers Jimmy Horn Jr., LaJohntay Wester and Will Sheppard, and safety Cam’Ron Silmon-Craig.
Largely due to the West team’s poor quarterback play, Horn, Sheppard and Wester were held mostly quiet at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. Sheppard did make an impressive back-shoulder catch in the first quarter, though.
