Class of 2025 Big Ten football rankings before National Signing Day

How a college football roster is formed has drastically changed in recent years with the increasing activity in the NCAA transfer portal and the start of the NIL era in college sports. Decades have passed since a college football coach could just walk into a living room, impress the recruiting target and his family and sell the excellence of a school and football success. Many more ingredients in the recruiting process have been added to the mix over the years, and not all exclusively for the better of the sport.

No matter how much has changed in the recruiting game, the constant trend seems to be that power programs will always have the upper hand on the recruiting trail. Perhaps that is more true now than it has ever been before. As such, a handful of Big Ten programs will continue to pull in top-25 and top-10 recruiting classes on a regular basis. The Class of 2025 is no different. A look at the most recent Class of 2025 recruiting rankings from 247Sports shows some familiar names competing for the top recruiting classes in the nation and the conference. Not surprisingly, the defending national champions (Ohio State) and defending Big Ten champions (Oregon) are among the top-ranked classes in the nation. Michigan, now a year removed from its national championship run, is locking down a top-10 class and Penn State and USC appear to be on track for a top-15 recruiting class as well.

Here is one more look at the national recruiting rankings of Big Ten teams before the traditional signing period opens up next week. The national ranking listed comes from 247Sports, which accounts for transfer portal rankings in addition to the current recruiting class. This will lead to some cumulative national recruiting rankings looking odd compared to the order in which they are listed below.
