Ranking the top 15 plays from Colorado’s 2024 season

The 2024 season was a memorable one for the Colorado Buffaloes football team.

CU rejoined the Big 12, a conference the program had called home for over 60 years. The Buffs returned to their winning ways, picking up nine victories and earning a bowl appearance. CU also picked up its second Heisman Trophy. Two-way star Travis Hunter earned the award, joining Rashaan Salaam.

Though we are getting ready for a new era of Colorado football with Hunter, quarterback Shedeur Sanders and others moving on to the NFL, I’m not ready to turn the page quite yet. Throughout the season, CU received winning performances out of a host of talented athletes on both sides of the ball. Still, some plays were so incredible they deserve special recognition

Here are my top 15 plays from Colorado’s 2024 season:

15 — Colton Hood flips the momentum against Kansas State

Colorado had climbed back into the game against Kansas State but needed a fourth-down stop. Pressure forced Wildcats QB Avery Johnson into a bad throw that Colton Hood nearly took to the house.

14 — Travis Hunter covers multiple Knights, then gets the diving pick

In one of the few times CU played zone last season, Travis Hunter passed off two different UCF Knights before making a diving interception in front of the third receiver he covered during the play. Hunter fittingly hit the Heisman pose after this play.

13 — Jimmy Horn Jr. to the house

Shedeur Sanders showed off his toughness by taking a hit as he let this pass go, allowing wide receiver Jimmy Horn Jr. to show his wheels as he blazed to the end zone.

12 — Nikhai Hill-Green’s leaping interception

Linebacker Nikhai Hill-Green showed off great athleticism and awareness as he stopped mid-blitz to make a leaping interception of Texas Tech QB Behren Morton.
