Even despite the month of February having only recently begun, it’s never too-early to look ahead to the upcoming 2025 college football season.
For the Alabama Crimson Tide, the 2025 season will provide an opportunity for the program to bounce back after a 9-4 season, and hopefully return to the College Football Playoff after missing out a year ago.
Well, based on the returning talent on both sides of the ball also, there is certainly potential for Alabama to do just that, with ESPN believing that some of those names could end up being among college football’s greatest players next season.
Yes, on Monday morning, ESPN’s Chris Low released his way-too-early 2025 college football All-America Team, a list that included multiple Alabama players, the first of which was rising sophomore wide receiver Ryan Williams as a First Team projection at the position. Williams was a key contributor for the Crimson Tide as a true freshman in 2024, leading Alabama in receiving by hauling in 48 receptions for 865 yards and eight touchdowns, while also rushing for two more.
“Williams didn’t finish his freshman season the way he started it, but still proved to be one of the most explosive players in the nation,” Low said. “He had five touchdown catches in his first four games, including the game winner against Georgia, and finished the season with 10 touchdowns (8 receiving, 2 rushing). Williams averaged 18 yards per catch and tied for fourth nationally with five receptions of 50-plus yards. Look for even more big plays in 2025.”
In addition to Williams, one other Alabama player also received First Team honors in defensive lineman LT Overton, who bypassed the 2025 NFL draft in order to return to Tuscaloosa next season.
