Brian Kelly made another addition to the LSU football staff on Monday.
According to a report from The Advocate’s Wilson Alexander, LSU is hiring Tim Rattay as an offensive analyst. Rattay spent the last five seasons as Oklahoma State’s quarterbacks coach.
For Rattay, it’s a return to Louisiana. He played at Louisiana Tech and later served on Louisiana Tech’s coaching staff for five years.
At Louisiana Tech, Rattay worked with LSU offensive coordinator Joe Sloan.
When Sloan was promoted to offensive coordinator, LSU brought in Todd Fitch as an analyst. Sloan and Fitch also worked together at Louisiana Tech. Last month, Fitch moved on to take the offensive coordinator position at Charlotte. Bringing in another analyst familiar with Sloan makes sense for LSU.
Rattay spent 10 years playing professional football, which included a five-year stint with the San Francisco 49ers. He has NFL coaching experience, working as Washington’s QBs coach in 2019.

LSU’s staff has remained mostly intact this offseason. The only coaching change came when tight ends coach Slade Nagle departed for the OC job at Houston. He was replaced by former Florida State offensive coordinator Alex Atkins, who will coach tight ends and coordinate the run game for LSU.
