Look” Ohio State receiver Jeremiah Smith reacts to Chip Kelly departure

Ohio State football won a national title in dominant and impressive fashion through late December and mid-to late January, but the page had to quickly turn to next season when the program lost three assistant coaches in quick succession.

Defensive coordinator, Jim Knowles, was the first to depart, making a surprise decision to move laterally in the conference over to Penn State as the Nittany Lions new coordinator. That was followed by offensive line coach, Justin Frye, taking a career step and moving on to the NFL with the Arizona Cardinals. Lastly (hopefully), perhaps the biggest loss of all, was the news that offensive coordinator, Chip Kelly, had accepted the same position, also in the NFL with the Las Vegas Raiders.

By all accounts and measures, Kelly’s one year in Columbus was a resounding success. He took the talent on OSU’s roster, put together great game plans (well, aside from the Michigan game), and called plays to take advantage of the skill and talent on the Ohio State roster. It all resulted in an offense that was one of the best in the country, and culminated in an impressive College Football Playoff run that ended in some confetti and trophies.

Ohio State has plenty of talent back, but the one guy everyone points to as the alpha of the offense is generational talent, rising sophomore, Jeremiah Smith. Despite voting and biased opinion, Smith was the best receiver in college football and might be the best overall talent in the country next year. He’s not shy at such a young age and is fairly active on social media, and he’s already posted a response to Kelly leaving the banks of the Olentangy. It was simple, but conveyed exactly how Smith felt about Kelly and the hole left with his departure.

We’re sure Ohio State will replace Kelly with a fantastic coach (we’ve got some ideas) because, well — it’s Ohio…
