Illinois football adds in-state late addition from the Class of 2025

Illinois football made a late addition to their defense Monday when Class of 2025 linebacker Jack Paris announced his commitment.

The 6-foot-3, 210-pounder from Oak Park Fenwick is a 3-star prospect who was formerly committed to Air Force. He was an all-conference selection in his senior season in the Chicago Catholic League/East Suburban Catholic Conference White Division. His Fenwick team finished 8-3 and lost in the second round of the Class 7A playoffs.

Paris also had an offer from Vanderbilt, and multiple offers from lower level programs like Akron, Army, Ball State, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Kent State, Navy, Northern Illinois, Toledo and Wyoming.

“Grew up in Illinois, grew up right outside Chicago and this has always been my dream to play in the Big Ten, play the biggest football, play on the biggest stage and go into those stadiums,” Paris told Illini Inquirer. “It means so much. Just that these coaches are putting trust in me and they really are betting on me. I’ve got a chip on my shoulder for all these other schools that haven’t bet on me, and it’s really only going to make me work harder.”

Among the reasons Paris chose Illinois is former Metamora coach Pat Ryan, who is now high school recruiting coordinator for the Illini.

“I always trusted Coach Pat Ryan,” Paris told Illini Inquirer. “I trusted the process, and it worked well.”

Paris is the seventh in-state commit from the 2025 class for Illinois. According to 247Sports, the Illini Class of 2025 recruiting haul ranks 12th in the Big Ten and 43rd in the nation.
