It was thought over the weekend, after a report by On3 recruiting insider Chad Simmons, that Michigan football target, 2025 Denton (Tx.) Ryan four-star offensive lineman Ty Haywood, would be making his commitment known on Monday. However, things have changed, and now we know for sure when the former Alabama pledge will make his commitment and sign with his school of choice.
It turns out that Haywood will officially make his decision on Wednesday, the beginning of the early signing period, in a ceremony at his school at 8 a.m. CST. Haywood announced the timing and place of his commitment on his Instagram story. He is considering Michigan, Texas Tech, and Florida State, though the Wolverines appear to be heavy favorites for his signature.
Haywood had been a five-star recruit to most of the recruiting services through much of the process but has fallen in recent weeks as On3 and 247Sports have revealed their final 2025 rankings. Both services dropped him from a five-star to a four-star, but not by much. ESPN is the only recruiting service that still holds him up as a five-star recruit.
Should he commit and sign with Michigan football, Haywood would be the 24th pledge in the 2025 class. He would join five-stars Bryce Underwood and Andrew Babalola (consensus) and Nate Marshall (Rivals) as being commitments who have reached that upper echelon status according to at least one recruiting service.
Haywood first visited Ann Arbor last month. He is the only target on the board for the Wolverines in the February signing period.
