Where Auburn sits in latest USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll after weekend shakeup

Auburn basketball avoided the upset bug that bit several top-25 squads last week to extend its winning streak to 13 games and to keep its unbeaten record against SEC teams alive.

Were Auburn’s wins over LSU and then-No. 23 Ole Miss enough to keep Duke and Alabama away from the No. 1 spot? In this week’s USA TODAY Coaches Poll, the Tigers hang on to the No. 1 spot for the fourth consecutive week, fighting off the Blue Devils and Crimson Tide for the honor.

Alabama and Tennessee benefitted the most from Iowa State’s 80-61 home loss to Kansas State last Saturday. The Cyclones, previously ranked No. 3, fell five places to No. 8. Because of this, Alabama moved one spot to No. 3 and Tennessee moved four places to No. 4 following its win over No. 6 Florida in Knoxville.

The SEC is represented by seven teams in this week’s ranking. Alabama (No. 3), Tennessee (No. 4), Florida (No. 6), Texas A&M (No. 13), Kentucky (No. 14), and Missouri (No. 16) join Auburn in the top 25 while Mississippi State and Ole Miss fell to the “receiving votes” category.
