Auburn defensive line football coach Jeremy Garrett, who began his coaching career at Ensworth, is expected to be hired as the Chicago Bears new defensive line coach, according to CBS/247Sports.
Garrett, a former Ole Miss defensive lineman from Senatobia, Mississippi, spent eight years at Ensworth at the beginning of his career. He was named Ensworth’s head coach in 2018 and led the Tigers to a 7-5 record and the Division II-3A playoff quarterfinals.
Garrett served in several other roles at Ensworth, including associate director of admissions, assistant track and field coach and assistant defensive football coach.

After one season as head coach at Ensworth, Garrett landed his first collegiate coaching job at Vanderbilt where he spent one season as a defensive quality control assistant under Derek Mason.
In 2020 Garrett moved to the NFL as assistant defensive line coach for the Cleveland Browns. After two years there, Garrett was hired as Hugh Freeze’s defensive line coach at Liberty.
Garrett moved with Freeze to Auburn after the 2022 season as the Tigers’ defensive line coach.
The Bears hired former Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Jonson to replace Matt Eberflus on Jan. 21.
