Former Georgia Bulldogs defensive end and college football expert David Pollack has released his way-too-early preseason top five college football rankings. Pollack ranked his top five shortly following the national championship.
Pollack notably leaves the Georgia Bulldogs out of his top five rankings. Georgia lost a lot key players in the trenches and quarterback Carson Beck this offseason, so it makes sense that Pollack is doubting the Bulldogs. Pollack did say that Georgia and Notre Dame are just outside of his rankings.

5. Penn State Nittany Lions
Pollack likes what Penn State returns at quarterback and running back. The Nittany Lions will have to learn from their 2024 failures to win a national title. Penn State quarterback Drew Allar is a candidate to be the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NFL draft.
4. Clemson Tigers
“He’s going to be in the Heisman Trophy discussion next year,” said Pollack on Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik. The Tigers are coming off a College Football Playoff first-round loss to the Texas Longhorns. Clemson returns their top three receivers and even added a few transfers this offseason.
3. Oregon Ducks
Pollack is high on Oregon’s new projected starting quarterback Dante Moore. “I think they’ll continue to build what they have,” said Pollack. The Ducks went undefeated during the regular season last year and won the Big Ten championship before losing to Ohio State in the playoff.
2. Ohio State Buckeyes
Ohio State is fresh off a national championship and returns superstar defensive back Caleb Downs along with star receiver Jeremiah Smith. “Ohio State is losing a ton of dudes,” said Pollack.
