Feb. 5—The UTPB football team added 50 new players to it roster that signed during National Signing Day on Wednesday.
Of the 50 players, 33 are high school players while 17 are transfer that signed during the mid-year signing period to make up the Falcons’ 2025 recruiting class.
“Signing day is a year-long process and tomorrow, it starts with a whole new batch of guys,” UTPB head coach Kris McCullough said at a press conference Wednesday at the D. Kirk Edwards Human Performance Center. “It goes through March and April, when we’re on the road, visiting these high schools and getting the names collected, to seeing them at summer camps and then going to their high school games and seeing how their seasons take off and then doing our December, January visits. It’s a long process. I’m proud of our staff and their hard work.”
Coming off two consecutive winning seasons, McCullough talked about how much easier it’s been to recruit players to come to UTPB than it was when he first took over in 2023.
“It’s a lot different from year one,” McCullough said. “Year one, it wasn’t easy. It wasn’t like we were trying to shake off everybody that wanted to be here. Now, we are happy with where we are. … It speaks volumes about where our program is. People in the Permian Basin see us completely different. A few years ago, we may not have gotten players like Aiden Serrano. Now, we’re a program where kids want to be here and they want to be a part of it.”
Among the key players that signed for UTPB is Midland Legacy wide receiver Aiden Serrano who McCullough is eager to have on this team.
“I think Aiden Serrano is our best signing that we’ve had in years,” McCullough said. “He’s gone down in every record book in Midland Legacy and to say that with all the SEC and Big 12 receivers that they’ve had over the years, it speaks volumes on the…
