Yesterday was an uneventful National Signing Day for the Nebraska Cornhuskers class of 2025. The class officially closed with 20 signees, 12 of whom were listed as 4-star prospects and the remaining eight players as 3-star recruits.
The first Wednesday in February used to be the time when all the action took place, as signees announced their schools on national television and phones rang off the hook. Now, the first Wednesday in February is a time to tie up loose ends and get a final commitment or two for the remaining class.
Nebraska football did most of their work during the early signing period timeframe. They were able to then turn their attention to the transfer portal, where they added an additional 16 players.
Matt Rhule and staff landed several transfer commitments during December, with former Missouri Tigers EDGE Williams Nwaneri kicking things off. From there, they were able to fill several positions, including wide receiver, linebacker, and offensive line.
On a national level, the Ohio State Buckeyes had the top class in the conference, with 26 total commitments, including three five-star commitments. Nebraska football finished sixth in the Big Ten recruiting rankings, looking to build toward a stellar 2025 season.
