This time, it is official, Ryan Grubb will be the next offensive coordinator for Kalen DeBoer and the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Alabama fans are already familiar with Grubb as he accepted the OC role last January after DeBoer took over in Tuscaloosa, but bolted after just a few days to accept the OC role with the Seattle Seahawks. Grubb’s stint in the NFL was not overly successful as he was let go after just one year, despite winning 10 games.
DeBoer got his first head coaching opportunity with Sioux Falls in South Dakota in 2005 before brining Grubb in as an Offensive Line Coach/Running Game Coordinator in 2007. The two have since made stops together at Eastern Michigan, Fresno State, Washington and now Alabama.
Grubb was a huge piece in helping DeBoer getting Washington to a national title two seasons ago, and is immediately one of the best OC’s in college.
DeBoer said of Grubb this morning,
“Ryan Grubb has been someone that I have trusted for a long time and adding him to our staff only improved the quality of coaches we have here at Alabama. He is one of the best offensive minds in the country, and I can’t wait to see what he brings to out organization moving forward.”
Nick Sheridan, the Crimson Tide’s OC in 2024, will stay on the staff although his role is still a bit unclear.
