In early November, Michigan football fans started getting excited for what the rest of the college football world thought was a pipe dream. However, on Nov. 20, No. 1 overall recruit, Belleville (Mich.) five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood shocked everyone when he made the sudden flip from LSU (where he had been committed since January) to Michigan football.
National pundits didn’t see it coming, neither did LSU insiders. It was a complete shock to the system, but the Wolverines had quietly worked on Underwood on all fronts — from secret visits, a lucrative NIL offer, and more, Michigan got the job done.
But why did Underwood decide to stay home and play college football in Ann Arbor? He appeared on the Big Ten Network and shared why he made the flip to the maize and blue.
“Honestly, the legacy that comes with it, and also the resources, and also the great education that I would have,” Underwood said. “That’s one of the big factors that came with this decision that I made.”

“I talked to Tom Brady before, so that’s one of the biggest, and that’s the main one that I would talk to, really. Just a great experience to have with that,” Underwood said. Of what Brady told him, Underwood said, “Honestly, how much of a great player that I am, and how much potential they see in me, and how much better I can be.”
That’s a pretty big bargaining chip that Sherrone Moore and his staff had in their quiver.
Despite his talent, it’s unclear whether or not…
