GAYLORD ― Seniors Keaton Abraham and Connor Byram were part of some of the most successful seasons in Gaylord football history over the past three seasons, helping GHS win its second-ever district title during the undefeated 2023 season, while leaving individual marks on the school record books.
The GHS duo aims to create a similar legacy in Houghton, Mich., in the Upper Peninsula after the two Blue Devils football stars confirmed their future by signing with Michigan Tech University for football on National Signing Day, Wednesday, Feb. 5.

Abraham, the younger brother of former Gaylord Ski state champion Connor Abraham and an all-state skier himself, was a starter for Gaylord since his sophomore season and became a star on both sides of the line of scrimmage, leading the way for the Blue Devils’ ground-and-pound attack from his center position, while wreaking havoc on pass rushers from his defensive line spot. He finished his senior season with 57 tackles and 10 sacks in just nine games of work.
Keaton Abraham (54, center) was named to the Division 3-4 first team all-state list in 2024 and now looks to continue that success at Michigan Tech.
Byram, meanwhile, was also a weapon on the defensive line as well as a sure target in the passing game, but left his mark on the Gaylord program with his leg. A consistent kicker and punter, Byram set a new program record with 119 points scored over his Gaylord career, mainly through field goals and extra points.
“I just couldn’t have done it without everyone around me these last four years,” Byram said at the time.
