The Colorado Buffaloes and head coach Deion Sanders have signed defensive coordinator Robert Livingston to a new two-year contract, BuffZone’s Brian Howell reported Friday. The deal pays Livingston $1.5 million this year and $1.6 million in 2026, making him one of the highest-paid assistant coaches in the Big 12 Conference and the highest-paid assistant in CU football history.
Livingston’s raise stems from the profound first-year impact he had on the Buffs’ defense, which rose from one of the nation’s worst to formidable in several aspects, especially against the pass. The Buffs went from the seventh-worst pass defense in the Football Bowl Subdivision in 2023 (276.9 passing yards allowed per game) to sixth-best in the Big 12 this past season (200.5). Colorado also topped the conference with 39 sacks, the program’s most since 1995.
Livingston’s accomplishments after just one year at the position are now duly noted. This historic raise should help keep the former Cincinnati Bengals safeties coach in Boulder for the foreseeable future.
