Former Jacksonville head football coach takes over Krum program

KRUM, Texas – Chris Taber has been named as the athletic director and head football coach at Krum High School.

Taber takes over for Chuck Caniford, who is retiring.

Taber, served as athletic director and head football coach at Jacksonville High School from 2012-14.

He worked in the same capacity at LaVernia High School from 2017-21 where he lead the team to the state playoffs every year.

Prior to his promotion, Taber, a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University, served as offensive coordinator at Krum.

The Bobcats finished 9-2 last season and were an Area finalist.

Krum competes in District 5-4A-II, which also includes Bonham, Caddo Mills, Farmersville, Gainesville, Sanger and Van Alstyne.
