Conwell-Egan stayed inhouse by naming assistant football coach Brian O’Hara as the school’s new head football coach, replacing Jack Techtmann, who stepped down in December.
O’Hara, a 1978 graduate of Bishop Egan (which became Conwell-Egan in 1993 after a merger with Bishop Conwell), has coached the Eagles’ offensive and defensive lines since 2019.

“We are thrilled to have Brian take the reins and extend the tradition of excellence established by coach Techtmann,” Conwell-Egan athletic director Mike Miller said.
O’Hara, who previously coached the offensive lines at Archbishop Wood, Neshaminy and Bishop Egan, takes over an Eagles team that went 8-4 last season and captured the PIAA District 12 Class 3A championship.

After winning the district title, the Eagles lost to eventual PIAA champion Northwestern Lehigh in the opening round of the state tournament. A good number of core players from that team are returning.
Techtmann, also a Bishop Egan graduate, was the school’s head coach for the last 14 seasons and his teams won three PIAA District 12 titles. Two of those titles (2022 and 2024) came with O’Hara as part of the coaching staff.
“Brian’s dedication to CEC will ensure that the positive trajectory of the program will continue to advance,” Miller said.
“We are confident that all current and future Eagles will benefit from Coach O’Hara’s leadership.”
