Michigan State’s Tom Izzo ties Indiana basketball’s Bob Knight as Big Ten’s winningest coach

Michigan State coach Tom Izzo matched former Indiana Hoosiers coach Bob Knight on Saturday.

The Spartans beat Oregon, 86-74, which gave Izzo win No. 353 in the Big Ten Conference. Izzo is now one win away from surpassing Knight as the winningest coach in Big Ten history.

Next up for MSU? The Hoosiers. Izzo could break the record if Michigan State beats Indiana on Tuesday at the Breslin Center in East Lansing, Michigan.

The game comes a few days after IU athletic director Scott Dolson announced current Indiana coach Mike Woodson will step down at the end of the season. Indiana hosted Michigan and former Knight student-manager Dusty May on Saturday.
