With the 2025 recruiting cycle having wrapped up officially on Wednesday, Michigan football has gotten a commitment and a signing from five-star offensive tackle Ty Haywood, and all focus has now turned to 2026.
And the Wolverines have an obvious top target at the moment that they’re trending for.
There’s no player that Michigan has seemingly recruited harder in 2026 than Mineral (Va.) Louisa County five-star running back Savion Hiter. Hiter has been to Ann Arbor multiple times and the maize and blue have put on the full-court press for the nation’s No. 17 recruit, regardless of position.
And according to On3’s EJ Holland, Hiter has set his official visit to Ann Arbor for June 13. (subscription required)
I spoke to his father, Rod, a couple of weeks ago, and he reaffirmed that the Wolverines were still at the top. While I still like Michigan in this race, Hiter remains high on Georgia, Penn State, Ohio State and Tennessee. Others like North Carolina are trying to work their way into the mix. However, Hiter told me that he has locked in June official visits with all of the schools in his final group minus Penn State. Hiter is still ironing out all of the details as far as dates go, but, as of today, I’m expecting Michigan to get Hiter on campus on June 13.
As Holland notes, a lot can change between now and June in terms of the visit date — especially considering all of the schools that are in his top group. But for now, the Wolverines are in good position — not just to get him back on campus but to land his services once he does make a commitment.
