Michigan State football added a big-time commitment to its 2026 class on Saturday morning.
Four-star tight end Eddie Whiting of Sioux Falls, S.D. verbally committed to Michigan State on Saturday morning. He made the announcement via a social media post on X.
Whiting ranks as the No. 18 tight end in 247Sports’ composite rankings for the 2026 class. He’s also listed as the No. 357 overall prospect and No. 2 player from South Dakota.
Michigan State beat out a number of other big-time power four programs to earn Whiting’s commitment. He also held notable offers from Iowa State, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Washington, Washington State, Alabama, Auburn, Colorado, Florida and UCLA.
This is back-to-back days of Michigan State landing four-star prospects, with quarterback Kayd Coffman announcing his verbal commitment to the Spartans on Friday.
