Texas A&M’s recruiting history at wide receiver took shape during former head coach Kevin Sumlin’s, as future Hall of Famer Mike Evans, Christian Kirk, and Josh Reynolds are still making plays in the NFL and continue to serve as examples on the recruiting trail. Still, the position took a notable dip during the Jimbo Fisher coaching area.
During Fisher’s six seasons at the helm, not a single wide receiver produced a 1,000-yard season, even though players like Evan Stewart and Noah Thomas, who have both since transferred out of the program, came in with high hopes. However, the Aggies’ future at the position is rising under second-year coach Mike Elko.
In the 2025 recruiting class, Elko landed three wide receiver signees, led by five-star Jerome Myles. Combined with incoming transfer receivers KC Concepcion, Mario Craver, and Micah Hudson, starting quarterback Marcel Reed will have plenty of options through the air in 2025.
In the 2026 recruiting class, the No. 1-ranked wide receiver, Hattiesburg (MS) native Tristan Keys, announced on Thursday that he will take an official visit to Texas A&M this year, likely coming sometime this summer. This will be his second visit to College Station since late October.
On the field, Keys is one of the country’s fastest and most elite route runners, with the stats to back it up. During his 2024 junior season, Keys recorded 58 receptions, 1,275 receiving yards, and 14 touchdowns.
According to 247Sports, Keys is the fourth-ranked prospect in the 2026 class, the first-ranked wide receiver, and the first-ranked prospect in Mississippi.
