One of Colorado football’s top position coaches from this past season is moving on from head coach Deion Sanders’ staff.
As reported by 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz on Tuesday morning, defensive line coach Damione Lewis is leaving the Buffs for the same role at his alma mater Miami. Lewis was a two-time All-Big East performer with the Hurricanes before going 12th overall to the St. Louis Rams in the 2001 NFL draft.
During his lone season in Boulder, Lewis helped transform the Buffs’ defensive line from a liability into a strength. Colorado led the Big 12 Conference in sacks (39) while allowing opponents about 25 fewer rushing yards per game compared to 2023.
Miami, led by head coach Mario Cristobal and star quarterback Cam Ward, won 10 games this past season and finished third in the ACC standings.
Earlier this offseason, Coach Prime lost defensive ends coach Vincent Dancy to Mississippi State. Dancy was reportedly replaced by George Helow.
