The college basketball world will be centered on Coleman Coliseum Saturday afternoon as No. 1 Alabama men’s basketball faces No. 2 Auburn. But Alabama will still have a chance to carry out a long-lasting football tradition with the Tigers.
After a 28-14 win against Auburn Nov. 30, the Crimson Tide will keep the Foy-ODK Sportsmanship Trophy for another season, with the ceremony typically held during the home basketball game of the last winner of the Iron Bowl.
Alabama men’s basketball will tip off against Auburn at 3 p.m. Saturday from Coleman Coliseum.
Alabama has held the trophy for each of the past five seasons, last losing to Auburn on Nov. 30, 2019 on the road.
Kalen DeBoer was the first Alabama football coach to beat Auburn in his first Iron Bowl since Dennis Franchione in 2001. It was something Nick Saban didn’t do, not beating the Tigers until his second season. It was something Bear Bryant didn’t do, not beating Auburn until Year 3.

Foy-ODK Sportsmanship Trophy history
According to Auburn University, the two Circles of the Omicron Delta Kappa honor society from Auburn and Alabama sponsored a sportsmanship trophy for the two schools July 13, 1948.
The trophy is dedicated to James E. Foy, the former dean of student affairs at Auburn who also worked as the assistant dean of students at Alabama.
Foy-ODK Sportsmanship Trophy tradition
The Foy-ODK Sportsmanship Trophy is awarded to the winner of the past year’s Iron Bowl in a halftime ceremony of the Alabama-Auburn men’s basketball game on the winner’s home court.
The ODK president of Auburn, which lost to Alabama, will present the trophy.
