Michigan football expecting big spring game visit from elite 2026 QB

Michigan football announced that its annual spring game will take place on April 19 at noon on Thursday, and already, the Wolverines are expecting one really big visitor to campus. Recruiting in 2026 is off to something of a slow start, but if the maize and blue can impress one high school prospect expected to be in attendance, it will go a long way.

The Wolverines did have an elite quarterback committed in 2026 in Cocoa (Fla.) four-star Brady Hart, but after 2025 No. 1 overall player Bryce Underwood flipped from LSU to Michigan late in the cycle, Hart reclassified to 2025 and flipped to Texas A&M. Now the maize and blue are looking for a replacement and former Florida State commit Brady Smigiel might just be the one who could follow Underwood.

According to On3’s Steve Wiltfong (subscription required) the Wolverines have managed to secure a Smigiel visit for the April 19 spring game, but Hart will also be visiting Washington (both unofficially and officially), South Carolina, and UCLA.

Smigiel is rated the highest by Rivals where he’s a five-star prospect and the No. 17 overall player in the 2026 class. On3 is the most bearish listing him as a four-star at No. 195 overall, but the other services have him higher.
