Where former Georgia QB Carson Beck ranks among UGA’s all-time leading passers

Former Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck transferred to the Miami Hurricanes this spring in one of the most stunning transfer portal decisions ever. Beck ends his five year Georgia career with a mixed legacy.

Beck never won a national title at Georgia as a starter, but he went 24-3 as Georgia’s primary starting quarterback in 2023 and 2024. Beck helped Georgia make the SEC championship in both 2023 and 2024. Georgia lost the 2023 SEC championship to the Alabama Crimson Tide 27-24 and missed out on the final four-team College Football Playoff.

Georgia bounced back in 2024 and won the SEC championship against the Texas Longhorns 22-19 in overtime. Of course, Beck went out with an injury in UGA’s 2024 SEC title, but he heroically returned to make the game-winning handoff. Georgia loss in the quarterfinals of the playoff to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish without Beck.

Now, with Beck gone, let’s look back at where his Georgia statistics rank among UGA quarterbacks all-time. Beck finished his Georgia career as the sixth-leading passer in school history with 7,912 passing yards. He’s ranked behind Jake Fromm, Stetson Bennett, Eric Zeier, David Greene, and Aaron Murray in career passing yardage at Georgia.

Beck is also sixth all-time in Georgia history with 58 career passing touchdowns. He’s behind the same five quarterbacks, but is ahead of players like Matthew Stafford, Mike Bobo and D.J. Shockley.

Beck has the highest completion percentage (68.0) in school history of any quarterback with at least 300 pass attempts. He ranks 14th in school history with 20 career interceptions.

Georgia fans should not take Beck’s efficiency and historic numbers for granted as the Bulldogs move into the Gunner Stockton era. It may not be realistic to expect Stockton to be as productive as Beck.
