The Carver High football team has a new head coach.
The Crusaders announced this week that Jermetrius Troy will take over in the fall. He met with the players for the first time on Friday.
Troy takes over for Chris Pabst, who led Carver to an 8-4 record in one season as an interim coach last year.
Troy was most recently the special teams coordinator at Central Connecticut State University, a Division 1 FCS program. He has 12 years of coaching experience, including head coaching tenures at Nobles and Greenough and Holderness High School (New Hampshire).
Last week, Troy received the RISMA (Rhode Island Southern Mass.) Football Coach of the Year award for coaching Old Rochester youth football.
Troy, a Mattapan native, played running back at Stonehill College from 2009-12 and graduated as the Skyhawks’ fourth all-time leading rusher with 1,598 yards and 14 touchdowns in 36 career games.
