Dante Moore named one of biggest impact players in 2025

Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks project to be among the top teams in the nation one again in 2025, looking to defend their title as Big Ten Champions and head back into the College Football Playoff for a second straight season.

Should they find a similar type of success, though, it will undoubtedly look different. With Dillon Gabriel now off to the NFL, redshirt sophomore Dante Moore is projected to take over and lead Will Stein’s offense.

Will he live up to the high expectations that were placed on him as a 5-star QB in the 2023 class, or will he look more like the QB who struggled as a true freshman at UCLA?

It’s a question that is impossible to answer at this point, which is why Moore is one of the biggest impact players in the nation in 2025, according to ESPN. His production could make or break the Oregon season when all is said and done.

“With Dillon Gabriel departing, a lot will fall on the shoulders of quarterback Dante Moore,” ESPN’s Paolo Uggeti wrote. “He transferred from UCLA last offseason and was able to spend a season watching Gabriel, learning the Ducks’ offense from offensive coordinator Will Stein. Though this will be his third season in college football, Moore will turn 20 in March, and as his freshman season with the Bruins showed, he has a lot of potential. The good news: Oregon’s track record for picking and developing quarterbacks in recent years is one of the best in the country, and Moore could be the program’s next success story. But to return to the playoff stage and end the season on a better note, he’ll need to be.”

Oregon also has Austin Novosad in the QB room that they can turn towards if necessary, but the early expectation going into spring football is that Moore not only will be the guy, but can be good enough to lead a championship-caliber team in Eugene.
