Former LSU defensive coordinator Matt House lands new job in the NFL

Former LSU football defensive coordinator Matt House has a new job.

According to CBS Sports and 247Sports, House will join the Kansas City Chiefs as a senior defensive assistant. He joins the AFC Champions for the second time in his career after spending 2024 as the Jacksonville Jaguars’ linebackers coach.

House spent two seasons as LSU’s defensive coordinator and linebackers coach from 2022 to 2023. Following the 2023 regular season, House was fired, along with the entire defensive staff.

On defense in 2023, the Tigers underperformed in most categories as a team and were one of the worst units in the SEC.

The defensive performance was especially frustrating as LSU’s offense was one of the most explosive units in the history of college football.

Prior to joining Kelly’s staff, House was at Kentucky for three seasons. He started as the inside linebackers coach and special teams coordinator then switched to defensive coordinator. In his first stint with the Chiefs, House was the linebackers coach from 2019-2021 and won a Super Bowl.
