ESPN FPI predicts No. 8 Texas A&M basketball vs. Arkansas on Saturday afternoon

No. 8 Texas A&M (19-5, 8-3 SEC) will face an improved Arkansas team (15-9, 4-7 SEC) for an early Saturday morning matchup inside Reed Arena, as the Aggies are looking to get to 20-5 and closer to double-digit wins in SEC play. While star guard Wade Taylor IV is looking to get closer to breaking the program scoring record, winning is the primary goal.

After defeating Georgia on Tuesday, the Aggies are 4-0 over the last two weeks, while Arkansas rebounded with a solid 70-58 win over LSU after falling to Alabama the previous Saturday. The Razorbacks likely need to win at least seven games in conference play to make the NCAA Tournament, but the road is tough after facing the Aggies with No. 1 ranked Auburn (on the road), Missouri, and Texas left on the docket over the next two weeks.

Matchup wise, Texas A&M junior forward Pharrel Payne has been one of the top offensive and defensive players in the country since entering the starting lineup, and he will go against Arkansas sophomore big man Zvonimir Ivisic, who scored a game-high 25 points against the Tigers after scoring 27 points against Alabama.

According to ESPN’s FPI predictor, Texas A&M is still a big favorite to defeat the Razorbacks as an 8.5 point favorite at home.

ESPN FPI:

Texas A&M will host Arkansas on Saturday, February 15, for an early 11:00 a.m. tip-off. The game will air on ESPN.
