Evaluating Georgia football’s returning production at running back

The Georgia Bulldogs are losing nearly half of their rushing production. Georgia’s second-leading rusher, running back Trevor Etienne, elected to enter the 2025 NFL draft in a surprise decision.

Georgia rushed for just 124.4 yards per game last season, which ranked second-to-last in the SEC. Georgia was able to establish the run twice against Texas, who had one of the top defenses in the country, but overall it was a disappointing season for the Georgia run game.

In 2025, Georgia’s rushing attack will be even more crucial. The Bulldogs lost starting quarterback Carson Beck (SEC’s third-leading passer in 2024) to the NCAA transfer portal this offseason and need to have a balanced attack for projected first-year starter Gunner Stockton.

How much rushing production does Georgia football return in 2025?

Georgia lost 45% of its rushing production this offseason. The Bulldogs return nearly 1,000 yards in rushing production from 2024. Projected starting running back Nate Frazier figures to be Georgia’s lead back in 2025. Frazier posted 671 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns on 133 carries in 2025.

Georgia’s second leading returning rusher is wide receiver Dillon Bell, who had nine carries for 107 yards and a touchdown in 2024. Bell could play a larger role for Georgia’s backfield in 2025 like he did in 2023.

Georgia running back Branson Robinson (25 carries for 73 yards and three touchdowns) is coming off an injury-filled season, but is Georgia’s second-leading returning rusher at running back.
