Oregon Ducks lose offensive line coach to Oregon State Beavers

The Oregon Ducks are losing one of their veteran-most offensive coaches, with Mike Cavanaugh reportedly leaving Eugene to take over as the OL coach for the Oregon State Beavers.

ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported the move, noting that Cavanaugh spent a decade coaching at Oregon State earlier in his career. In his 33-year coaching career, Cavanaugh has also worked with Arizona State, Syracuse, Nebraska, and Oregon State, among others, including the NFL.

While A’lique Terry has turned into one of the best young OL coaches in the nation, coaching back-to-back Joe Moore Award finalist units, it can’t be understated how valuable Cavanaugh’s experience was to the room.

This will be another important coaching hire for Dan Lanning to make this spring, likely before spring camp begins in early March. Oregon is also in a spot where they will need to hire a new wide receivers coach after Junior Adams left to take over as the WR coach for the Dallas Cowboys earlier this month.
