The SEC will see a ton of turnover at quarterback ahead of the 2025 season. Oklahoma, Texas, Ole Miss, Alabama, Kentucky, Georgia, Auburn, and Missouri will have new starting quarterbacks in 2025. It’s a season of turnover and the SEC looks like a conference that will be wide open in the fall. The most anticipated new starter is Texas quarterback Arch Manning.
The hype around Manning has reached a fever pitch, which has fueled the Heisman and national championship expectations for the former five-star quarterback. If he can live up to the hype, he could very well find himself in New York at the end of 2025, and Texas will once again be in the College Football Playoff picture.
There are a lot of exciting quarterbacks to watch in the SEC next season, but how do the projected starters stack up ahead of spring ball? Here’s our way-too-early rankings.
1. Garrett Nussmeier, LSU
Garrett Nussmeier was second in the SEC in passing yards in 2024 and is the most experienced passer in the SEC. If he makes a similar year-two jump like Joe Burrow and Jayden Daniels, Nussmeier could earn the Tigers another Heisman trophy. What he did to Oklahoma in the regular season finale could be the start of an incredible 2025 season.
2. LaNorris Sellers, South Carolina
LaNorris Sellers’ ascension in 2024 was a revelation for Gamecocks Football. His ability to win with his arm and his legs makes him one of the more exciting players to watch in the SEC.
3. D.J. Lagway, Florida
D.J. Lagway reinvigorated Florida’s offense in 2024 and showed the promise of being a former five-star quarterback. While a lot of love will be given to Arch Manning, Lagway has the highest ceiling of any quarterback in the SEC.
