Oklahoma Sooners reuniting with former OC Kevin Wilson

The Oklahoma Sooners are bringing back a familiar face in former offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson. According to a report from OUInsider, the Sooners added Wilson to the staff in an analyst role. Josh Callaway and Sooners Illustrated also confirmed the report.

Wilson spent 2002 to 2010 with the Sooners, serving as a co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach from 2002 to 2005. From 2006 to 2010, he held the offensive coordinator title alone and helped oversee some of the most productive offenses in college football history.

His 2008 offense finished first in the nation in scoring, averaging 51.1 points per game. They scored 50 or more in nine games that season and had a run of six straight games of 58 or more that spanned the final five games of the regular season and the Sooners’ Big 12 championship domination of Missouri.

That season, Sam Bradford won the Heisman Trophy after throwing for 4,720 yards and 50 touchdowns. Bradford also had five touchdowns on the ground that year to lead Oklahoma to the BCS National Championship game.

Wilson served as Indiana’s head coach from 2011 to 2016. In 2012 and 2013 the Hoosiers finished No. 2 in the Big Ten in total yards. In 2015, Indiana led the conference in total yards and in 2016, Wilson’s final year with the Hoosiers, Indiana finished third in the conference.

He then served as the co-offensive coordinator at Ohio State from 2017 to 2022. Under Urban Meyer and then Ryan Day, Wilson helped Ohio State compile a 67-9 record over six seasons. The Buckeyes averaged more than 40 points per game in each of those seasons and never finished outside the top 10 in scoring offense. He also served as the tight ends coach during his time in Columbus.
