Jacksonville State football and new coach Charles Kelly have found their defensive coordinator, again.
Kelly and the Gamecocks will hire Brian Williams, a source with direct knowledge of the hire told the Gadsden Times on Monday. Williams was defensive coordinator and defensive line coach at Maryland, holding that role since 2022.
Williams is a alum of Florida A&M and started his coaching career at Florida State as an defensive analyst in 2013, working on the same staff as Kelly and a few Jax State assistants. He spent time at Georgia in a player relations role before going to UAB, where he coached under Bill Clark. He joined the Maryland staff in 2019 and has coached both linebackers and defensive line.
