Where Ole Miss basketball, Chris Beard rank in national polls after loss to Mississippi State

OXFORD — Ole Miss basketball took a step back in the polls after a home loss.

The Rebels are unranked in the USA TODAY Coaches Poll released Monday. Ole Miss is No. 24 in the AP poll.

The Rebels (19-7, 8-5 SEC) were No. 23 in the coaches poll last week. Ole Miss lost 81-71 at home to Mississippi State on Saturday night. Coach Chris Beard was unenthused with his team’s performance. The Bulldogs outrebounded the Rebels, which Beard chalked up to intermittent “softness.”

Ole Miss is headed into a bye week, with the next game being at Vanderbilt on Saturday (2:30 p.m., SEC Network).
