Few places in college football match the energy and intensity that a packed Kinnick Stadium has when Iowa football gets things rolling.
The Iowa Hawkeyes welcome in ranked teams each year, host big games, and draw national television a few times each season. Despite that, some are unfamiliar with the intensity that Kinnick Stadium brings and how loud it can get.
Fans at Kinnick are known to force false starts, make teams use timeouts, and make life really hard on opposing teams.
One who knows what Kinnick Stadium is all about is FOX college football analyst Joel Klatt. He has put Iowa football’s Kinnick Stadium among his most underrated venues in all of college football.
“I think a great, underrated venue is Kinnick Stadium in Iowa. That is a great, underrated venue. I think it’s a terrific venue,” Klatt said.
“For me, I think the most underrated would be Kinnick in Iowa. I think that that’s a really cool venue,” Klatt continued.
Holding a capacity of 69,250, Kinnick Stadium is intimate with the sidelines butting right up to the stands without much of any buffer at all. The north endzone is built vertically rather than outward and retains noise which can be a nightmare for teams.
Since its opening in 1929, Kinnick Stadium has been a premier venue of college football and as the Hawkeyes keep winning and giving fans a reason to be there, it will continue to be among the best venues to watch a game at.
