Nick Saban is the greatest college football coach who has ever lived, and at this point, there is no debate. Whether you define success as national titles, individual accolades, or players sent to the NFL, the former Alabama head coach is in a league of his own.
In his 17 years with the Crimson Tide, Saban won six national titles, nine SEC championships, multiple Coach of the Year awards, and sent 133 players to the NFL via the draft, including 47 in the first round. What’s so impressive about Saban and his dynasty in Tuscaloosa is that it was built on defense, but around 2016/2017, he had to adapt as the sport became much more offense-oriented.
Saban didn’t just adapt but accelerated as Alabama went on to have some of the best offenses in college football over the past decade. As a result, the Crimson Tide has been responsible for producing some of the most explosive offensive players in the NFL such as Derrick Henry, Josh Jacobs, Jahmyr Gibbs, DeVonta Smith and others.
Alabama alumni were dominant in the NFL in 2024 as they scored the most points by a single school in a season in NFL history with 862. The season even ended on a high note with Jalen Hurts, Landon Dickerson and DeVonta Smith being crowned Super Bowl champions with the Philadelphia Eagles.
